In Praise of Judy’s
Your Traditional Friendly Non-Family-Friendly Diner
We would argue Judy’s is actual a family-friendly diner. However, the subtitle above just accurately represents its placement in the genre of friendly non-family-friendly diners.
That is mainly because of the alcohol. It doesn’t just have a bar: it is a bar, with a diner.
It has more liquor than windows, despite being above ground.
Their prices are inflation-proof.
Its last call is 1PM instead of 1AM, as Maine State Law dictates.
I have never been offered a menu, but have been asked the very necessary question of “What do you want?”
By the same waitress/bartender every time, who is the same person—though not named Judy.
At least I don’t think so, for there is no name tag.
In other words, I love Judy.
I have enjoyed every visit.
It is in a class by itself, rising above the Great Mount Rushmores of Old.
