The 2026
Most Improved
Gunslinger
Anthony Edwards
Twenty-four years old. Four kids. Four women. That’s not why they call him the Ant-Man.
But that is one reason we call him a gunslinger.
We also call him a gunslinger because he has been slinging it on the basketball court, leading the Timberwolves to back-to-back Western Conference Finals in 2024 and 2025, and giving the Spurs a run for their money in the Western Conference Semifinals in 2026.
We also call him a gunslinger because he likes to sling his mouth off the court, ridiculously calling the older generations of NBA players unskilled, particularly Larry Bird. While we would never call Edwards’ historical analysis of the NBA accurate—and can even call it wildly inaccurate—we have to call a spade a spade, especially when that spade is an ace (unless you are playing euchre and spades are trump, in which case it is the jack), and label it as high-level gunslinging.
As helpful as the off-the-court gunslinging is to his personal gunslinging cause, if he does not take his on-court gunslinging to the next level, which will be particularly difficult in the Wild, Wild, Highly-Competitive Western Conference, his off-the-court gunslinging will have to drastically improve to get him an official space, a highly-sought after Top 25 number, on a future Highly-Prestigious Gunslinger Poll.
For now, he will have to simply bask in the special glory of this very special (and prestigious) Special Gunslinger Award.
Stay tuned to these Polls—and your local maternity to ward—to see what happens next.
